Set piece advantage? Arsenal send scouts to watch Super Eagles star

Osimhen has been playing as a lone striker since Mauro Icardi picked up a knee injury that'll keep it out for the season.

English Premier League side, Arsenal, have continued to monitor Super Eagles and Galatasaray striker, Victor Osimhen, ahead of a potential move, Soccernet.ng reports.

Mikel Arteta’s side have been second best in the English top-flight for two consecutive seasons, without the availability of a World class striker. While they’ve come close to clinching the trophy, many believe a regular goalscorer is what the side need to get over the line in the title race.

Osimhen, who continues to shine in Galatasaray, was linked with the record FA Cup champions in the summer, but his €130m release clause was more than what the Gunners could afford. Additionally, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain were linked to the former LOSC Lille striker, toughening up the fight for the highly-sought forward.

As per Sports Witness, Arsenal are still watching Osimhen and closely looking at his progress. It is believed Mikel Arteta’s side have been sending scouts to observe his matches, with the club keenly aware of his interest in moving to England at the end of the season.

Arsenal understand there’s interest for the striker elsewhere, and are looking to quickly seal a deal whenever the opportunity presents itself.

Should Osimhen move to Arsenal?

While Arsenal have been brilliant in the last two years, the absence of an actual striker has cost the Gunners in huge games. Osimhen would be a significant addition to Mikel Arteta’s team as he guarantees 15 to 20 league goals if fully fit.

Additionally, he’s a threat in the air. Of Osimhen’s 123 club career goals, 33 of those have come from header and that is something Arsenal could pry on, as they’ve scored the most goals from set-pieces in the last two Premier League seasons.

Osimhen is interested in a move to England, but his preferred destination is currently unknown. It is widely expected that the final league standings at the end of the season will play a vital role in the club he’ll play for next.
