Nigeria international Fisayo Dele-Bashiru finally opened his Serie A account as he scored the last of Lazio’s goals in their 3-0 victory against Bologna on Sunday, Soccernet.ng reports.
Dele-Bashiru came off the bench to round off the scoring for Lazio as the White and Blues secured their ninth league win of the campaign.
Lazio’s cause was helped by the dismissal of Bologna star Tommaso Pobega, who was shown a red card for a reckless challenge in the 35th minute of the encounter.
Despite Lazio’s one-man advantage, fans inside the Stadio Olimpico had to wait until midway through the second half to celebrate the game’s first goal bundled home by substitute Samuel Gigot.
Four minutes later, Mattia Zaccagni produced an expertly curled finish to double the home team’s advantage.
Dele-Bashiru replaced Argentine forward Valentín Castellanos in the 85th minute and moments later the Nigerian midfielder was on hand to slam home the ball into the net following a swift Lazio counter-attack.
It was Dele-Bashiru’s first-ever Serie A goal, having joined Lazio from Hatayspor in the summer. He already scored for the Italian club in the UEFA Europa League in a 3-0 victory over Dinamo Kiev back in September.
The 23-year-old, it would be recalled, scored Nigeria’s only goal in a 1-0 win against Libya in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in October.
Dele-Bashiru, who scored a career-high eight goals for Hatayspor in the Super Lig last season, will crave more chances to show his quality for Lazio.
