Bayer Leverkusen have intensified efforts to secure Victor Boniface’s future at the club amid growing interest from top European sides, including Manchester United, Soccernet.ng reports.
The Nigerian forward, who has been in stellar form this Bundesliga season, is under contract until 2028, but the German club is reportedly working on an extension that would see him tied down for an additional year.
According to BILD, Leverkusen are eager to open negotiations soon.
Their determination to retain Boniface comes amid reports linking the 23-year-old to United, although sources close to the player suggest he remains content under Xabi Alonso’s leadership.
Boniface reportedly feels “completely comfortable” at the club, a sentiment echoed by Alonso himself.
“We have a good connection with Boni,” Alonso said. “He’s a great guy, well-integrated in the dressing room, and always brings positive energy.”
Boniface has scored six goals and registered one assist in the Bundesliga this season, making him a key figure in Leverkusen’s impressive campaign.
Despite being sidelined with a torn muscle fibre in his thigh, his performances have not gone unnoticed, with Sky Sports reporting that he features on Manchester United’s shortlist of potential striker targets.
The Premier League club also tracks Eintracht Frankfurt’s Omar Marmoush, but acquiring Boniface requires a substantial financial commitment.
However, Leverkusen remains firm, with no plans to entertain offers for their Nigerian talisman.
For now, Boniface’s future appears firmly aligned with Bayer Leverkusen as the club looks to build on its strong start to the season with their prized striker at the helm.
