Report: Lens not considering transfer for two-goal Nigerian striker

French Ligue 1 club Lens are not considering a transfer for one-time Super Eagles invitee Gift Orban, Soccernet.ng reports.

Orban joined Lyon last January after an impressive one-year stint at the club. The 22-year-old striker had impressed at Gent, producing 32 goals and two assists in 52 appearance across all competitions.

Unfortunately for the former Stabaek man, he has struggled to impress at Lyon. The Nigerian hitman has failed to make an impact at Lyon amid their instability on and off the pitch.

This season, despite being fit for most of Lyon’s games, he has only contributed two goals for Les Gones in five appearances. And it seems it will be tough for him to get more game time as the season goes on.

Due to Orban’s struggles, there have been many talks linking him with an exit. And Lens are one the clubs that have been linked with his signature.

However, according to reports from GFFN, the Ligue 1 club is not even considering the move at all. Coach Will Still wants to put his hope on the young players rather than signing an unproven striker.

As it stands, except Orban joins a new club, it is unlikely that his situation under coach Pierre Sage will improve. He may have to move on in January to get more playing time.
