Report: Galatasaray targets Nigerian striker to pair with Osimhen following Icardi’s season-ending injury

Super Eagles' Victor Osimhen has notched eight goals and provided four assists in his nine appearances for Galatasaray

Super Lig side, Galatasaray, are set to make a move for surplus Nigerian striker, Gift Orban, currently struggling to impress for Ligue 1 side, Olympique Lyon, Soccernet.ng reports.

Orban joined Lyon in the 2024 winter transfer window on a four-year deal but has failed to impress with the Ligue 1 side, who has added him to the transfer list to solve their financial problem.

According to A Spor, the Yellow-reds are set to make a rescue move for the Super Eagles invitee as the club looks to bolster their attack after Mauro Icardi’s season-ending injury.

The Argentine forward tore his right ACL during Galatasaray clash against Tottenham and has left Victor Osimhen with the job in the attacking department with his exit.

Icardi’s injury has left a gap in Galatasaray’s offensive line, and Orban’s impressive form has made him a top target for the Turkish giants.

Orban, known for his clinical finishing and ability to link up well with teammates, is seen as the ideal partner to complement Osimhen, who has been a standout for both club and country.

The 22-year-old forward, who has previously garnered attention in Europe, is now expected to join forces with his countryman, Osimhen, in Okan Buruk’s two-forward system.

The pairing is expected to give Galatasaray a formidable attacking force as they aim to continue their strong performance in domestic and international competitions.

With Orban and Osimhen potentially leading the charge, Galatasaray hopes to recover from the blow dealt by Icardi’s injury and maintain their attacking prowess for the remainder of the season.
