La Liga: Valencia faces tough Umar Sadiq decision ahead of Real Sociedad clash

La Liga strugglers Valencia find themselves in a tough spot as they prepare to face Real Sociedad in a crucial clash that could determine their relegation fate, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Spanish club, battling to avoid the deep in the relegation zone, have secured the signature of key player in their squad on loan from Sociedad, Umar Sadiq.

In a bid to gain regular playing time, Sadiq penned a season-ending deal with Valencia to revive his goal-scoring form since his injury setback in 2022.

However, Valencia faces a financial dilemma with a clause in the Super Eagles striker’s loan contract that could complicate their efforts to climb out of danger in their next La Liga clash.

Sadiq, who joined Valencia on loan from Real Sociedad, has been a crucial addition in their bid for survival. His goal-scoring ability is expected to help the team avoid relegation.

However, per reports, a clause in the deal stipulates that if the Nigerian forward plays against his parent club, Valencia would need to pay an additional 300,000 euros (approx. 400 million naira) on top of the 500,000 euros already paid to secure his loan.

With Valencia’s need for an in-form striker to help them escape the relegation zone, the decision on whether to include Sadiq in the squad for the Real Sociedad game becomes a pivotal one.

Sadiq is expected to participate in their Copa del Rey quarterfinal clash against Ourense CF today at the De Couto stadium, but his presence in Valencia’s La Liga clash against his parent club remains uncertain.
