Fulham defender Calvin Bassey was full of admiration for Alex Iwobi’s spectacular goal in their Premier League clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Craven Cottage, Soccernet.ng reports.
The Nigerian international curled a stunning left-footed effort into the top corner in the 20th minute, giving Fulham fans a moment to savour despite the eventual outcome of the game.
In a photo shared by ESPN Africa, Bassey was visibly astonished by the brilliance of his compatriot’s strike. The defender held his head in disbelief as the ball hit the net, perfectly capturing the awe inspired by Iwobi’s moment of magic.
Bassey’s stunned reaction quickly gained attention on social media and stood out as one of Fulham’s brightest moments on an otherwise tough evening.
After the match, Fulham manager Marco Silva praised Iwobi’s goal but lamented how the game slipped away from his side.
“We started the game like we should, on the front foot, trying to command like we normally do. We created some chances even before the great goal we scored,” Silva said.
However, Wolves proved too strong, with Matheus Cunha delivering a standout performance, scoring twice and providing an assist.
His first goal in the 31st minute cancelled out Iwobi’s opener, and his second—a spectacular long-range strike—sealed Wolves’ dominance late in the game.
