Obiogumu bags hat-trick in Germany; Osimhen, Akintola shine in Turkey; Tella, Tolu, Onyedika impress

Soccernet.ng monitored dozens of games involving Nigerian footballers across Europe. Here are the key highlights of those who stole the show with their displays.

England

In the Premier League, Calvin Bassey had a day to forget in defence while Alex Iwobi scored a sensational goal as Fulham fell to a 4-1 defeat at home to Wolves.

In the Championship, Josh Maja continued his excellent scoring form as he was on target in West Brom’s 2 – 2 home draw with Norwich City.

Femi Onyedinma netted his fifth League One goal of the campaign to lift Wycombe Wanderers to a thrilling 3-2 away win at Lincoln City.

Germany

Nathan Tella assisted Bayer Leverkusen’s last goal as the reigning Bundesliga champions fought from a two-goal deficit to secure a 5-2 win over Heidenheim.

In the Regionalliga, Benin City-born Destiny Obiogumu registered the first hat-trick of his career as his Nürnberg II played out a thrilling 3-3 draw with Viktoria Aschaffenburg.

Italy

Ademola Lookman put the icing on the cake with Atalanta’s third goal in their 3-1 Serie A victory against Parma.

Albania

Peter Itodo netted his seventh SuperLiga goal to help Dinamo City secure a 2-2 away draw at Skënderbeu Korçë.

Only Vllaznia’s Bekim Balaj (8 goals) has scored more times than the 21-year-old Itodo in his first-ever season in the Albanian top flight.

Belgium

In the First Division A, Raphael Onyedika struck a venomous shot from distance during Club Brugge’s dominant 7-0 victory against Sint-Truiden.

Tolu Arokodare, with his ninth league goal, and Noah Adedeji-Sternberg were on the scoresheet for Genk as they forced a 3-0 defeat down the throat of Sporting Charleroi.

Bulgaria

Eighteen-year-old Christain Nwachukwu opened the floodgates of goals for Botev Plovdiv as they strolled to a fine 3-1 First League win against Botev Vratsa inside the Stadion Hristo Botev in Plovdiv.

Denmark

Joy Omewa showed nerves of steel to net the winning goal from the penalty spot for Fortuna Hjørring in their 2-1 away victory at Odense in the Danish Kvindeliga.

Slovakia

Ridwan Sanusi was on target as ŽP Šport Podbrezová ended their five-game winless run with a morale-boosting 2-1 win away to Skalica in the 1. Liga.

Turkey

David Akintola delivered a man-of-the-match display as he assisted both of Rizespor’s goals in their 2-1 Super Lig victory over Eyüpspor in Istanbul.

At the Kalyon Stadyumu, David Okereke came off the bench to round up the scoring for Gaziantep FK in a convincing 3-0 win against Istanbul Basaksehir.

Victor Osimhen was in action from start to finish for Galatasaray as the defending champions worked hard to carve out a tough 1-0 win at Bodrum FK.

Ukraine

Samson Iyede was the hero for Vorskla as the 26-year-old attacker assisted the first and netted the second in a 2-0 Premier League win against Cherkasy.
