“I still don’t understand why he’s there” – Ex-Arsenal defender echoes Evra’s thoughts, urges Gunners to snatch Osimhen from Galatasaray

Victor Osimhen is set to lead the line for the Super Eagles of Nigeria when they face Benin Republic tonight.

Former Arsenal and France centre-back, William Eric Gallas, has urged Mikel Arteta’s side to go all out to sign Super Eagles and Galatasaray star, Victor Osimhen, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Napoli loanee was on the radar of several clubs last summer, Arsenal and Chelsea included, but the Italian side were demanding for a fee around €130m, which was deemed too much by the interest parties.

Arsenal have been brilliant from set-pieces this season, but have been struggling to bury chances in front of goal as Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus aren’t as proficient as the Red London fans want.

Osimhen is known for his impressive goal-scoring ability, and has scored six goals and provided four assists in six league games for Galatasaray, leading a title charge for Okan Buruk’s men.

Former Manchester United left-back, Patrice Evra, was stunned when he found out Osimhen’s move to Turkïye was a loan deal, and bashed Arsenal for not going all out to sign the 25-year-old.

In the same vein, Gallas has urged his former side to snatch Osimhen from Galatasaray’s jaws when the winter transfer window opens.

“If I could sign one player for Arsenal in January, it would be a world-class striker… I wanted to speak about Osimhen because I know he’s at Galatasaray, and I still don’t understand why he’s there. That’s the type of profile Arsenal need. They need a player with that pedigree.

Maybe he won’t score 20 goals in the season, but he will scare defenders, he will give them a hard time, and that will give the opportunity for players around him to score goals,” William Gallas told Goal.

Realistically, it’ll be hard for Arsenal to conjure up a January move for Osimhen, as he’s mentioned he’ll see out his loan spell with Galatasaray, ruling out a winter move.
