Bright Osayi-Samuel free to negotiate January pre-contract amid Fenerbahçe uncertainty

Super Eagles defender, Bright Osayi-Samuel, could negotiate a pre-contract with any club of his choice in January as negotiations with Fenerbahçe remain uncertain, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Nigerian international approaches the final month of his contract with the Yellow Canaries, and Osayi-Samuel will be eligible to negotiate and sign a pre-contract agreement with any club of his choice from January 2025, which sets up a free transfer next summer.

Osayi-Samuel, who joined Fenerbahçe from Queens Park Rangers in January 2021, has become an integral part of the team’s defensive setup.

However, recent reports indicate that while Fenerbahçe is interested in extending his stay, no agreement has been reached yet, which further leaves room for speculation about his next move.

Unless a renewal is agreed upon, Osayi-Samuel will be free to negotiate with other clubs as early as January 1, 2025, under the Bosman ruling.

Negotiations are reportedly ongoing, with Fenerbahçe pushing for a three-year extension. Whether the player and the club can align their terms in time to avoid him leaving on a free transfer remains to be seen.

However, Soccernet.ng earlier stated that his partner, who is in UK, seems to hold the final say in him signing a deal with Jose Mourinho-led side or his team.
