Super Falcons and Atletico Madrid star wins Liga F Player of the Month

Atletico De Madrid Femeni and Super Falcons attacker, Rasheedat Ajibade, has been crowned Spanish Liga F’s Player of the Month for September, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 24-year-old played a crucial role in Atletico’s run of winning games, helping the Rojiblancos to 15 points from their first five games in the league where they stand third, level on points with leaders, Barcelona.

The versatile Nigerian forward was on fire last month, scoring five goals and providing two assists in four games, including a hat-trick against Madrid CFF, leaving fans stunned with her dazzling display.

The former Avaldsnes midfielder beat stiff competition from Barcelona’s Ewa Pajor, Real Madrid’s Caroline Weir, Levante Badalona’s María Llompart, and Athletic Club Femenino’s Nerea Nevado to the award.

The Super Falcons attacker continues her tip-top form from last season where she won the Player of the season for Atletico Madrid. She scored 11 goals and provided eight assists in 35 games for Victor Martin’s team.

Ajibade won the first edition of Nigeria National Freestyle Championship in 2017. In the same year, in the Nigerian female youth league, she was voted player of the season after scoring eight goals to save Robo Queens from relegation.

The following year, Ajibade joined Norwegian side, Avaldsnes IL, on a two-year deal before joining  Atletico in winter transfer window of 2021, and she’s grown from strength to strength with the Spanish side, winning the Copa De La Reina, the Women’s Cup, and SuperCopa Femeni. Her contract with Atleti runs till the summer of 2025.
