Report: Why Victor Osimhen might not start Galatasaray’s next game

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen may not start for Galatasaray on their return to Super Lig action against Antalyaspor this Saturday, Soccernet.ng reports.

Osimhen had a good start to life after completing his loan transfer from Napoli to Galatasaray during the summer transfer window. He registered four goals and two assists in his first four games for the club.

Unfortunately for him, he sustained an injury in his fourth Galatasaray game against Kasimpasa, the same game he scored his first goals for the club. That injury effectively ruled him out of international duty for the Super Eagles.

Nonetheless, they announced that Osimhen would return to action after the international break. Then, two days ago, Galatasaray shared pictures of the 25-year-old striker during some isolated work on the pitch. But that is just a step, as Osimhen is yet to resume training with the rest of his teammates.

Now, according to Milliyet, Osimhen will be fit enough to make Galatasaray’s matchday squad for their Super Lig game at Antalyaspor. But he may not be fit enough to start.

The Super Eagles star has a bad injury record, and the Turkish champions will be cautious with how they deploy him upon his return. Osimhen may have to wait until midweek, when Galatasaray welcome Elfsborg to Rams Park in the Europa League before he returns to action fully.
