Osimhen strikes again for Galatasaray in big derby win over Besiktas

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen scored for Galatasaray in their 2-1 win over Turkish rivals Besiktas at Rams Park, Soccernet.ng reports.

Osimhen returned to action with Galatasaray when they played hosts to Istanbul rivals Besiktas on Monday. Recall that the 25-year-old striker scored in his last Turkish Super Lig game for the Lions, and he was looking to continue with that form against Besiktas.

Galatasaray dominated the game from the blast of the whistle. They clearly looked like the better side. And it took them just 13 minutes to grab the lead, courtesy of a header from Davinson Sanchez.

After scoring, the Lions’ offense cooled off, allowing Besiktas into the game. Nonetheless, the home side managed to take the lead into the break.

In the second half, Galatasaray improved, and they got their second goal in the 67th minute. Gabriel Sara whipped in an enticing freekick from the left side of the pitch, and Osimhen latched on to it and sent a sublime header into the net to make it 2-0.

Osimhen had a very good game, as he was quite lively in the final third. He was taken off for Dries Mertens in the 82nd minute.

Besiktas scored a consolation goal in stoppage time to ensure that the game ended 2-1 at Rams Park.
