Nottingham forest boss gives positive update on Ola Aina’s contract extension

Nottingham Forest head coach, Nuno Espirito Santo, has revealed talks about a contract extension for Super Eagles full back, Ola Aina, is in the works, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 27-year-old joined Nottingham Forest on a free deal from Torino in 2022, penning a one year contract with the option to extend for another year.

The extension clause was activated towards the end of last season, meaning the ex-Chelsea man will continue at the City Ground till the end of this summer.

The down side for Forest is that Aina is free to enter into pre-contract agreements with other clubs once the winter transfer window opens in January.

To prevent this, the two-time UEFA Champions League winners are planning to offer a new contract to the versatile full-back, as revealed by the club’s coach.

“Ola Aina has been exceptional since joining us, we’re eager to secure his future with the club.” Nuno Espirito Santo said in his pre-match presser ahead of Forest’s trip to Stamford Bridge, where they face Chelsea tomorrow.

Aina, on the other hand is keen on continuing his football with Nottingham Forest, as he mentioned in a previous interview with BBC Radio Nottinghamshire.

“All I can say is I am really happy at Forest right now. Fantastic club, I feel at home and we’re just building. I’m patient with what the club is building. Let’s see what happens in the future.”

Chelsea are currently 4th in the English Premier League, two points behind league leaders, Liverpool. They have the head to head advantage considering their history with Nottingham Forest, winning four and winning just one.
