KRC Genk and Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare has acknowledged the recent rumours linking him with a potential move to Fulham, Soccernet.ng reports.
The towering striker who has been labeled as Paul Onuachu’s replacement in Genk has been quick to downplay these reports, insisting that he remains focused on his current club.
Speaking to De Standard, the 23-year-old forward, who joined Genk in January 2023 from Amiens SC for €5 million, expressed his contentment with life in Belgium.
“Just like you, I read the rumours on social media, but I am happy in Genk,” Arokodare said. “For the national team, I know that I have to play in a major competition in the long term. If a Nigerian striker scores three times in the Premier League or the Bundesliga, I know that I have to score at least eight times to have a chance of being called up.
“It would be great to wear the shirt of my country. If the national coach does not call me up, I still have a club to focus on.”
Since his arrival, Arokodare has been a consistent goal scorer, netting 23 goals and providing five assists in 73 appearances for the club.
This season, he has already found the back of the net six times in ten Jupiler Pro League games, attracting the attention of clubs abroad.
Fulham are reportedly monitoring the Nigerian’s progress as they look to strengthen their attacking options, which already include his compatriots Calvin Bassey and Alex Iwobi.
However, Sports Witness reports that despite Raul Jimenez being in fine form and Rodrigo Muniz also available, a move for another striker does not appear to be an immediate priority for Marco Silva’s side.
