He can score incredible goals – Ex-Milan and Fiorentina boss compares Osimhen to Icardi

Victor Osimhen joined Mauro Icardi at Galatasaray on a season-long loan from Napoli during the 2024-25 Summer transfer window

Former AC Milan and Fiorentina manager Fatih Terim has offered high praise for Victor Osimhen, drawing a direct comparison between the Nigerian forward and Galatasaray star Mauro Icardi, Soccernet.ng reports.

Osimhen joined Icardi at Galatasaray on a season-long loan from Napoli during the summer transfer window and has been in impressive form, contributing three assists and two goals in four appearances.

Before sustaining an injury to his left upper posterior, Osimhen netted two stunning goals, signaling his return to top form after his last club goal in May.

Terim, who has extensive experience managing in both Italy and Turkey, weighed in on the qualities that make Osimhen and Icardi stand out in modern football.

“Icardi is one of the few centre-forwards whose talent inside the box is unmatched,” Terim remarked. “Osimhen, on the other hand, is an exceptional athlete who can score goals that you would never expect.”

The Nigerian star has hinted at a return to action after the international break, meaning he will miss out on the Super Eagles’ upcoming matches. Both the club and the national team have taken precautions to ensure his full recovery.

Nevertheless, Osimhen is expected to support his teammates from home as they prepare for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against the Knights of Libya.
