Manchester United legend Patrice Evra has raised questions over Arsenal’s transfer strategy, highlighting their failure to secure Nigeria’s Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, Soccernet.ng reports.
Arsenal were linked to a number of exciting attacking options in the summer, including Nigeria’s Osimhen and Sporting Lisbon forward Viktor Gyökeres.
In the end, Osimhen moved on loan to Galatasaray, Gyökeres remained in Portugal, while Arsenal refused to complement the talents of Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus.
Another potential target, Ivan Toney, also slipped from Arsenal’s grasp as he moved to Saudi Arabia.
Arsenal have started the season brightly but Liverpool appear to be better prepared to challenge defending champions Manchester City for the Premier League title.
In a candid TikTok video, Evra voiced concerns about Arsenal’s chances of clinching the Premier League title, suggesting that missing out on a top-class striker like Osimhen could cost the Gunners dearly.
“Tell me how Galatasaray was able to buy Osimhen, but Arsenal wasn’t able to buy Osimhen,” Evra said, expressing his disappointment over Arsenal’s transfer policy.
The former French international emphasised the gap in Arsenal’s attacking lineup, claiming, “I’m sorry, they don’t have a killer. They don’t have a striker.
“A killer, when you have a bad game but he’s gonna score one or two goals. I want someone sleeping all game. You say ‘oh my God he is having his worse game’ then boom one goal or two goals.”
Evra’s remarks resonate with ongoing debates about Arsenal’s need for a proven goal-scorer to compete at the highest level.
Since joining Galatasaray on loan from Napoli, Osimhen has quickly proven his worth, tallying four goals and three assists in just seven matches in the Turkish Super Lig.

Did they even want him? No other big club wanted him either, including Man Utd, but then Evra's not going to point that out, is he?
For the money Napoli were demanding, you'd want a WC player with a flawless temperament, which doesn't describe Osimhen.
He only went there because nobody wanted him, and he had burned his bridges at Napoli.
The last thing Arteta wants is another Aubemeyang in the dressing room.
