Crystal Palace eye free move for Super Eagles defender

English Premier League side, Crystal Palace, are keen on securing the services of Nigeria and  Fenerbahce defender, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 26-year-old joined the Yellow and Blacks from Queens Park Rangers in 2021, and has established himself as an undoubted starter for the Turkish side.

The ex-Blackpool man was linked with a move to England during the last transfer window, with Leeds, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and more recently Crystal Palace rumoured to have been in pursuit of the right back.

As per Turkish outlet, Fanatik, Fenerbahce are making attempts to convince Osayi-Samuel over a contract extension as his current deal runs out this summer, which means he’s allowed to enter into pre-contract agreements with new clubs once the transfer window opens in January, only if Jose Mourinho’s side are unable to tie him down to a new deal before then.

While negotiations are ongoing between the Istanbul club and the player, concrete offers have also come in from the English Premier League.

Crystal Palace have their eye on the Nigerian international and at this stage it’s the Eagles who are leading the race to land Osayi-Samuel.

With his contract set to expire next summer, Crystal Palace are looking to take advantage of his situation and can open talks over a pre-contract in the new year, which will cost less as they’ll sign him for free. However, the players preferred choice is unknown at the moment.

Osayi-Samuel started the season as Mourinho’s first choice right back, but a foot injury has kept him out of action for the past few weeks. He’s set to return to action in the early weeks of November.
