English Premier League side, Chelsea, will have to hold on in their pursuit of Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, after the forward confirmed he won’t be leaving Galatasaray in the winter transfer window, Soccernet.ng reports.
The two-time UEFA Champions League winners were linked with a move for Osimhen all summer, but Napoli were unwilling to reduce their demands of €130m.
As a result, the 25-year-old joined Galatasaray on loan from Napoli and has been on fire for the Turkish side, scoring four goals and providing two assists in five games for Okan Buruk’s side.
Chelsea are still keen on bringing the former LOSC Lille striker to Stamford Bridge despite Nicolas Jackson’s improved form in front of goal. The Blues are looking for a striker who can guarantee at least twenty goals per season and are convinced Osimhen will fill that void.
Nonetheless, Chelsea and their fans will have to wait a little while longer to make a move for their target after Osimhen confirmed he won’t break his loan spell for a January move away from Galatasaray.
Speaking after Galatasaray’s 2-1 win against Beşiktaş last night, the 2023 CAF Player of the Year mentioned he will continue his stay with the club till the end of his loan spell next summer, as revealed by Turkish journalist, Yagiz Sabuncuoglu.
Should Chelsea still attempt a move for Osimhen in the summer, they will face less hassle as Napoli have reduced their asking price.
