Super Eagles and Nottingham Forest full-back, Ola Aina, has revealed his desire to stay at the club, and believes the club can continue their good form against Brighton on Sunday, Soccernet.ng reports.
The 27-year-old joined the Reds from Torino in 2022 and has gone on to make 26 appearances for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.
The full-back’s contract expires next summer, and with his future at the City Ground up in the air, the Super Eagles defender went on to reveal he’s currently happy with the way things are at the club.
“All I can say is I am really happy at Nottingham Forest. Fantastic club, I feel at home and we’re just building. I’m building, the club’s building. Let’s just see what happens in the future. The mood around the club is really good, you know, we’re just building from last season,” the former Fulham man said in quotes revealed by Forest Watch.
Forest have struggled to get into the top ten in the Premier League since their promotion in 2022. A late run of wins saw them barely survive in the 2022/2023 season and points deduction the following year didn’t help either.
However, under Nuno this season, the Reds are unbeaten in four games and are 7th in the league, and Aina feels the team are ready to fight this season, starting with their game against Brighton.
“Last season was difficult at times but the mood and energy around the club was still positive and I feel like we’ve built on that. There is definitely a good feeling around the club because we’ve started well and we just want to build on each performance every week. We’ve always been together. Going through those difficulties last season has helped bring the team together. But, even without those difficulties, I think we’re a close-knit team and it does show on the pitch. We’re ready to fight for each other and do that extra bit of each other,” the ex-Chelsea man concluded.
Ola Aina has started all four of Forest’s Premier League games this season while Taiwo Awoniyi has become the second choice to Chris Wood in attack.
