English Premier League side, Nottingham Forest, are keen on keeping Super Eagles defender, Ola Aina, at the club beyond this summer, Soccernet.ng reports.
The 27-year-old joined the Reds on a free deal from Torino just before the 2022/2023 English Premier League season on a one-year deal, with the option to extend for another year.
The extension option was activated in May after the former Chelsea man proved his worth to the Forest hierarchy across several positions in defence.
Aina has been a regular for Nuno Espirito Santo’s men this season, starting all four English Premier League games for the side, including a heck of a shift against Liverpool at Anfield, drawing praise from many.
As per Sports Witness, Nottingham Forest are set to offer the ex-Fulham man a new deal that’ll see the player tied down to the club for a long while.
The 40-capped Nigerian defender is in the final year of his contract with the City Ground inhabitants and can enter into pre-contract negotiations with other clubs in January when the winter transfer window opens.
With Nottingham Forest running at the risk of losing one of their best full-backs for free, the two-time UEFA Champions League winners are looking to start contract talks early. However, Aina’s stance on an extension is currently unknown. He’s scored a goal and assisted in 26 games since joining the club in 2022.
Nottingham Forest are one of the five clubs that are currently unbeaten in the Premier League this season, winning two games and drawing two. They’re currently 7th on the league table.
