Super Eagles legend Austin Jay-Jay has snubbed the likes of Lionel Messi, Neymar, Vinicius Junior and other world beaters as he insists he is one of the best dribblers in the game, Soccernet.ng reports.
Okocha did not win may individual records during his playing days, but he had a big impact. The former Super Eagles was known for his ability to wriggle past opponents with his jaw-dropping dribbles.
Okocha made a name for himself at Turkish giants Fenerbahce that he even helped to shape future stars like Mesut Ozil.
He also had stints at PSG, Bolton Wanderers, and Hull City before finally retiring from active football in 2012.
Since Okocha retired, Nigeria has not produced any other player with his skill set. And in a way, the former Nigeria international affirmed that.
Okocha was asked which of the current top footballers matches his ability to dribble, but he rejected stars like Messi, Neymar, Vinicius Junior, Victor Osimhen, Cristiano Ronaldo, Phil Foden, Ademola Lookman, Florian Wirtz, Jadon Sancho, Jamal Musiala, Bernardo Silva, Kilian Mbappe.
Revealing why he rejected all of the players mentioned, Okocha said, “Of course, I was the best dribbler, that was my strength.”
In recent years, the only footballer that has looked as good as Okocha has been Neymar. And on the Nigerian scene, only Chidera Ejuke has shown glimpses of his ability to dribble.
