Super Falcons midfielder Ngozi Sonia Okobi-Okeoghene has announced that she is expecting her first child, Soccernet.ng reports.
The Nigeria international shared heartfelt images on her social media accounts, revealing her pregnancy and the exciting new chapter in her life.
In the photos, Okobi-Okeoghene is visibly several months along, with her growing baby bump clearly showing.
The former Delta Queens star tied the knot with her husband, Ahmed Okeoghene, on December 9, 2017, in a private ceremony in Delta State.
Just weeks after her wedding, Okobi was back in action with both her club and the Nigerian national team, participating in the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations.
With an impressive career for Nigeria, Okobi has won four African Women’s Nations Cup titles. Her journey with the national team began at the youth level, playing in the 2008 and 2010 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cups and the 2012 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
At the senior level, Okobi has been part of several successful Super Falcons squads, including those that triumphed in the 2010 and 2014 African Women’s Championships.
She also featured for Nigeria at the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
One of Okobi’s standout moments came at the 2014 African Women’s Championship, where she scored her first international goal in a 6–0 victory over Zambia.
However, the talented midfielder was omitted from Nigeria’s squad for last year’s Women’s World Cup and the 2024 Olympic Games.
With her pregnancy, Okobi will now miss Nigeria’s upcoming fixtures, including the likely absence from the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
