Samuel Chukwueze could be on his way out of AC Milan as interest builds from several top European clubs ahead of the January transfer window, Soccernet.ng reports.
Atletico Madrid, along with Premier League sides West Ham United and Aston Villa, are eager to secure the services of the Nigerian winger, who has found playing time hard to come by since his move to Italy.
As per Les-transferts, all these clubs could move for Chukwueze in the winter.
The 25-year-old winger joined AC Milan from Villarreal last year after an impressive stint in Spain, where he notably helped his former club clinch the UEFA Europa League title.
However, his spell in Milan has not been as fruitful. With his contract running until June 2028, Chukwueze could be eyeing a fresh start sooner rather than later, with reports suggesting that a January transfer may be on the cards.
So far this season, Chukwueze has managed only six appearances in Serie A, logging just 148 minutes—far less than expected for a player AC Milan invested heavily in, paying €20 million plus €8 million in bonuses for his transfer.
Speaking about Chukwueze’s struggles, Paulo Fonseca offered some insight during a press conference:
“He had a very good pre-season when he had space against big teams. When we arrived here, against Torino and Lazio, I think Chukwueze was not as good as in the pre-season.”
Fonseca further explained,
“It’s not a problem of quality but of confidence. He needs to gain confidence and play in this context: in Serie A he has no space, he has to make movements at the right time.”
With interest from Atletico Madrid, West Ham, and Aston Villa, Chukwueze’s market value is currently estimated at €20 million.
A return to La Liga or a move to the Premier League could offer him the opportunity to rediscover the form that made him a standout player in Spain.
