Victor Osimhen’s agent, Roberto Calenda, has categorically dismissed rumours linking the Super Eagles striker with a move to Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal, Soccernet.ng reports.
In a strongly worded statement shared on social media, Calenda made it clear that Osimhen remains fully committed to his career in Europe, where he believes the Nigerian forward still has much to accomplish.
This comes in response to a report from The Sun suggesting that Osimhen had agreed to a £55 million salary deal with Saudi Arabian club Al Ahli as the 2024 summer transfer window draws to a close.
Calenda took to his social media page to shut down the rumours, emphasizing that Osimhen’s focus is on continuing his meteoric rise in European football, where his talents are still in high demand.
“Victor is not a package to be shipped far away to make room for new prophets. Victor still has so much to do in Europe,” the Italian agent asserted.
He further reiterated that Osimhen is still a Napoli player, having recently renewed his contract with the club to mutual satisfaction.
“Osimhen is a Napoli player, with a contract recently renewed with mutual satisfaction. He made history, and when there were major offers (also this year), we always accepted the club’s decisions,” Calenda added.
Osimhen’s agent also pointed out the respect the striker deserves, especially after his recent accolades, including being named African Footballer of the Year and finishing 8th in the Ballon d’Or rankings.
“Victor was elected African Footballer of the Year, 8th at the Ballon d’Or. There is a need for respect and balance,” Calenda wrote.
Speculation about Osimhen’s future has been fueled by Romelu Lukaku’s transfer to Napoli, with Chelsea reportedly eyeing the Nigerian as a potential replacement.
However, as the transfer window nears its end, it remains to be seen whether the Stamford Bridge outfit can secure Osimhen’s signature before the deadline.
