No Victor Osimhen in sight as Napoli make official offer for Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku

The transfer saga surrounding Napoli, Victor Osimhen, and Romelu Lukaku has taken a new twist following the Italian club’s latest move for the Chelsea man, Soccernet.ng reports.

Napoli’s interest in Romelu Lukaku is an open secret with manager Antonio Conte keen on reuniting with the big Belgian forward and recreating their past successes together.

Chelsea are also a long-time admirer of Napoli forward Victor Osimhen with former Stamford Bridge heroes like Didier Drogba and John Obi Mikel calling on the London giants to sign the Nigerian international.

With their transfer interests aligning, reports have suggested that Napoli and Chelsea could look to swap the two strikers with a bit of extra cash going in the direction of the former Serie A champions.

However, Napoli’s huge valuation of Osimhen has made such a swap deal almost impossible.

Napoli have decided to make a move for Lukaku in a deal that does not involve Osimhen.

According to LInterista, Napoli have proposed a five-million euro loan deal for Lukaku with an obligation to sign the former AS Roma attacker for €25 million at the end of the season.

Napoli have become more desperate to complete the signing of a striker after the club suffered a humiliating 3-0 loss to Verona in their first Serie A match of the campaign.

Chelsea also did not start their Premier League campaign on a positive note following their 2-0 home defeat at the hands of champions Manchester City.

This could prompt the Londoners to step up their pursuit of a proven goalscorer with Osimhen remaining top on their wishlist.
