New Rangers signing Robin Pröpper reveals how Nigerian striker convinced him to join the club

Dessers had the most goal contributions for Rangers last season but that wasn't enough to win the heart of the Glasgow fans over.

Latest Rangers signing, Robin Pröpper, has revealed Super Eagles striker, Cyriel Kolawole Dessers, played a vital role in convincing him to sign for the Glasgow-based club, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 30-year-old centre-back travelled to Manchester on Wednesday night to undergo a medical after Rangers and FC Twente agreed a fee of around €3m that’ll see the Dutchman become a Ger.

The former Twente captain becomes Philippe Clemente’s ninth summer signing. He joins Liam Kelly, Jefté Vital, Clinton Nsiala, Connor Barron, Oscar Cortes, Hamza Igamane, Vaclav Cerny and Mohamed Diomande, as the new faces at Ibrox this summer.

Speaking at his official announcement, the defender who’d spent his entire career in the Netherlands, shared his delight at the opportunity to play for Rangers.

“Rangers is a big club and it feels really good to be here. I was glad to hear about the club wanting to sign me. I always said I wanted to have a new adventure in another country and when a club like Rangers comes in for you it feels surreal. This club breathes football and you want to play your football here,” the former Heracles Almelo defender said in quotes revealed by Football Scotland.

The new Rangers signing additionally mentioned Nigerian striker, Cyriel Dessers told him nice things about the club before he joined.

“I spoke to Cyriel Dessers and Vaclav Cerny and they only had nice things to say about the club. It’s nice to see some familiar faces. You hear about the Rangers fans and how it is here and I am really happy to be here,” Pröpper concluded.

The Dutch defender is all set for his full debut with the Scottish Record Champions as they take on Hearts in their League opener tomorrow afternoon.
