Nigerian defender Jordan Torunarigha faces a crucial decision: whether to continue his career in Italy or England, Soccernet.ng reports.
The 26-year-old centre-half, who has spent the last two seasons in Belgium after initially joining on loan from Hertha Berlin, is now attracting significant interest from several clubs.
Serie A campaigners Monza have expressed keen interest in the Germany-born Nigerian, but they are not alone.
London-based clubs West Ham United and Crystal Palace are also in the race to secure his services. Leeds United had shown interest, but their failure to gain promotion to the Premier League has put an end to their pursuit.
The competition for Torunarigha does not end there, though.
According to TMW via Voce Giallorossa, Bologna and Torino have recently joined the fray, with Bologna making an enquiry for the Gent defender.
Monza’s interest remains strong, and Torino is also monitoring the situation closely. Torunarigha’s ball-playing abilities make him an attractive option for clubs in both Italy and England.
Bologna could be a tempting destination for Torunarigha as, unlike his other admirers, the Red and Blues offer UEFA Champions League football next season.
The Rossoblù finished fifth in the Italian top flight last term to qualify for Europe’s premier club competition for the first time since 1965.
And with star defender Riccardo Calafiori already departed for Arsenal, Torunarigha could become a key player in a historic campaign for the Bologna.
Standing at 1.96m tall, Torunarigha’s contract with Gent expires next summer, and the Belgian club is reportedly willing to let him go for a fee of around €5 million.
As the defender weighs his options, the decision will undoubtedly shape the next phase of his promising career.
