Iheanacho, Ejuke in but former Manchester City star misses out on Sevilla’s squad to battle Liverpool

Kelechi Iheanacho and Chidera Ejuke have been named in Sevilla’a 21-man squad set to face Premier League giants Liverpool on Sunday, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Nigerian internationals, who both joined the Spanish La Liga side this summer as free agents, are gearing up for a significant challenge against the Premier League giants at Anfield.

Iheanacho, who spent seven years at Leicester City, and Ejuke, who was previously with CSKA Moscow before loan spells at Hertha Berlin and Royal Antwerp, bring fresh talent to the Sevilla squad.

While Ejuke has already made his mark in a few matches for Sevilla, including a Man-of-the-Match performance against Al Ittihad, Iheanacho is yet to make his debut for the club.

The match against Liverpool will provide him with an opportunity to end his goal drought against the Reds, having faced them 11 times during his stints with Manchester City and Leicester City without scoring or providing an assist.

His record against Liverpool includes nine defeats, one draw, and just one win. Despite his struggles against the Reds, Iheanacho boasts an impressive record against his favourite foe in England, Aston Villa, with seven goals and four assists in ten games against them.

Sevilla will face Liverpool as they wrap up their pre-season schedule before kicking off their La Liga campaign against UD Las Palmas next Friday.

The squad for this fixture includes notable names like Montiel, who has returned to training, and new signing Lucien Agoumé.

However, former Manchester City winger Jesus Navas, Lucas Ocampos, and Dmitrovic are among those who will miss the trip due to illness or other reasons.
