“He must improve” – Lazio boss demands more from Fisayo Ayodele-Bashiru

Dele-Bashiru joined Lazio on loan from Turkish Super Lig side, Hatayspor, with the option to buy at the end of the season.

Lazio head coach, Marco Baroni, has demanded Super Eagles midfielder, Fisayo Ayodele-Bashiru, to give more during his loan spell at the club, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 23-year-old joined le Aquile this summer, on loan from Hatayspor, and played all ninety minutes in Lazio’s 3-1 win over Venezia in their Serie A opener.

His display was praised by many, including his head coach, but the 60-year-old also notes that the Nigerian has great potential, but must gel into the team, urging him to improve his all-round game.

“Dele-Bashiru has great potential. He is a lad who must understand our football and to do so he must train and play. We will give him the opportunity to do so. We also have other good midfielders who are improving. The attitude was important. He has to improve his posture, he is often closed by the opposition who doesn’t give him the chance to drive forward. But when he opens his shoulder, he is devastating. He has to become a ball-winner, but it’s not easy. It’s a complete upheaval, but he made an extraordinary contribution,” Barconi said in quotes revealed by Lazio News 24.

Dele-Bashiru opted to leave Sheffield Wednesday about a year ago after making just twelve starts in EFL League one, moving to Hatayspor, and his stocks have been on the rise ever since.

The ex-Manchester man has also pleaded with the Lazio fans to be patient with him as he settles in into the tactical demands of the Serie A as earlier reported by Soccernet.ng.

Lazio continue their league campaign this weekend as they travel to the Bluenergy Stadium to face Maduka Okoye’s Udinese.
