“He is a fantastic player” – Mikel Obi shares advice on Sterling-Sancho swap deal

Former Nigeria international Mikel Obi has expressed his support for Chelsea’s potential swap deal involving Manchester United forward Jadon Sancho, Soccernet.ng reports.

Sancho has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford despite resolving issues with his manager, Erik Ten Hag. Chelsea and Juventus have both emerged as potential destinations for the former Borussia Dortmund star.

The former Chelsea and Super Eagles captain, believes that signing Sancho would significantly enhance the team’s attacking options and overall squad strength at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea’s proposal reportedly involves swapping Sancho for ex-Liverpool forward Raheem Sterling, while Juventus is pushing for a loan deal as their best offer to Manchester United.

Speaking on the Obionepodcast, Mikel Obi shared his enthusiasm for the potential transfer, stating, “If we can get him through the door at Chelsea, I’d be very, very happy. He’s a fantastic player. I think on that side of the pitch, we’re very strong. But listen, if we can get a player like Jadon, of course, you’d be happy to have him. If that happens, I’d be very happy.”

Reports indicate that Sancho’s representatives and Juventus have reached an agreement, and the English international could be heading to Serie A on loan before the summer transfer window closes.
