Italian Serie A club Cagliari are looking to intensify efforts to sign Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers from Celtic this summer, Soccernet.ng reports.
Cagliari are in the hunt for reinforcements after their 16th-place finish in the Italian top-flight last season. Peru striker Gianluca Lapadula, who has been with the club for the past two season has been heavily linked with a transfer to Serie B side Pisa this summer.
Although nothing has been concluded, it is looking increasingly likely that the 34-year-old will leave this summer. And in his place, Cagliari are looking to bring in Nigerian striker Dessers from Rangers.
Recall that Soccernet.ng reported the links earlier on, but the transfer deal has cooled off over past weeks.
However, fresh reports from Italy indicate that Cagliari are looking to intensify attempts to sign Dessers.
The Nigerian striker has a proven goalscoring record, as he was the highest goalscorer in the UEFA Conference League three seasons ago with nine goals for Ajax in the run-up to their second-place finish.
Although he struggled at Cremonese two seasons ago, he churned out 16 goals in 35 games. With his decent goalscoring record, he could be a good signing for Cagliari if they can build the team around him.
Rangers would likely demand a fee in the region of €6 million before they let him go.
