Asisat Oshoala reacts as Noah Lyles defeats Kishane Thompson to win Olympic gold

Noah Lyles delivered his best career performance in the 100-meter final, defeating fierce Jamaican rival Kishane Thompson

Super Falcons star Asisat Oshoala expressed her excitement and admiration following Noah Lyles’ stunning victory over Kishane Thompson to claim the Olympic gold, Soccernet.ng reports.

Noah Lyles delivered his best career performance in the 100-meter final, defeating fierce Jamaican rival Kishane Thompson to win the USA’s first Olympic men’s 100-meter title in 20 years.

Following this, the five-time African Women’s Footballer of the Year took to her social media page to celebrate the 27-year-old for his latest achievement.

A post shared by the San Francisco-based website, Bleacher Report, was reposted by the former Liverpool forward with the caption, “He’s him.”

Thompson arrived as the favourite to win the race but took silver in the 100-meter final with a time of 9.79 seconds, with Lyles winning the gold by being 0.005 seconds faster.

The former Barcelona forward and her Super Falcons teammates crashed out of the 2024 Summer Olympics tournament following a disappointing campaign.

With a 1-0 loss to both World champions Spain and South American side Brazil, and a disappointing 3-1 loss to Japan, Randy Waldrum’s troops bid their goodbyes to the tournament.

Despite this, the 29-year-old has refused to be held back by the disappointment, as she keeps following the quadrennial event and supporting her favourite people.
