19-year-old Nigerian winger set to ditch Rangers for Nottingham Forest

Ishaka was very impressive during his short spell in Nigeria’s camp as the team prepared for the AFCON U-20 tournament in Egypt last year.

Taiwo Awoniyi’s Nottingham Forest have agreed a deal that’ll see Rangers and Flying Eagles winger, Thompson Ishaka join up with the Reds in the coming days, Soccernet.ng reports.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s team have been active in the transfer window this summer, bringing in Elliot Anderson from Newcastle, Nikola Milenkovic from Fiorentina, Marco Stamenic from Red Star Belgrade, Carlos Miguel from Corinthians, Jota Silva from Vit. Guimarães, and Eric Moreira from FC St. Pauli.

Ishaka joined Rangers from Brooke House College Football Academy last summer, and although he never featured for the first team, was impressive for the B team, and looks to be on the move again.

According to the Daily Record, the 19-year-old fleet-footed winger will join Nottingham Forest in the coming days, with personal terms already agreed upon and the final details of the transfer being discussed by both parties.

As at when Ishaka joined Rangers, he was also linked to several top clubs like Chelsea, Manchester City, and PSV Eindhoven, but the Light Blues won the race for the talented Nigerian.

Scotland defender, Darryl McHardy mentioned he had nightmares facing Ishaka when Rangers took on Buckie Thistle FC in a friendly.

Former Rangers’ sporting director, Ross Wilson and former Academy chief, Craig Mulholland, were heavily involved in bringing the Flying Eagles winger to Ibrox last summer, and with the pair now at City Ground, they’ve rekindled their mission to bring Ishaka with them.

Ishaka was very impressive during his short spell in the camp of Nigeria’s Flying Eagles as the team prepared for the Total Energies U-20 AFCON championship in Egypt last year.
