Transfer: Flying Eagles-eligible goalkeeper joins Arsenal days after brother’s Emirates departure

Flying Eagles-eligible goalkeeper Brian Okonkwo has signed a professional contract with Arsenal FC just days after his brother bid farewell to the Emirates, Soccernet.ng reports.

Arsenal bid farewell to one Okonkwo, only to welcome another. Arthur’s younger brother, Brian, has signed his first professional contract with the Gunners, following in his brother’s footsteps after Arthur joined Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s at AFC Wrexham.

Arsenal announced Brian’s new contract via their official page, with Brian expressing his joy at this milestone in his career.

“It’s definitely a proud moment for me and my family,” he said. “I’ve worked hard over the last few years to achieve this. It’s a step for me to keep pushing to new heights and get more successful moments like this in the future.

“It’s really satisfying. The club has trust in me, which is really important, helping me with my confidence. I’ve been here for nearly eight years, so I’ve made a lot of relationships here, and it’s one of the best clubs in the world.”

Following the end of his contract in north London, 22-year-old Arthur has permanently joined Wrexham in Wales. Last season, Arthur was on loan at Wrexham from the Premier League giants, where he gained invaluable experience.
