Spanish Laliga club Real Sociedad could include Super Eagles striker Sadiq Umar in a player plus cash bid for Getafe striker Borja Mayoral, Soccernet.ng reports.
Sadiq Umar’s future has been in the balance this summer because of his struggles with Real Sociedad.
The 27-year-old striker joined the Txuri-urdin two years ago for a club-record €20 million, and there were high expectations from him after his exploits with Almeria, when he registered 43 goals and 19 assists in 84 appearances.
Sadiq suffered a cruciate ligament in just his third game for Real Sociedad, and that kept him out for the entire campaign. Then last season, when he returned, he struggled to hit top form.
Coach Imanol Alguacil gave Sadiq many opportunities in the first three quarters of the season. But his game time reduced drastically in the second half of the campaign. The former Almeria man eventually totalled three goals and one assist in 36 appearances for Real Sociedad last season.
Earlier reports from Soccernet revealed that Real Sociedad were willing to let Sadiq leave this summer because of his struggles.
Getafe and other clubs abroad have reportedly shown interest in signing the Super Eagles striker. And in a new development per Juancar Navacerrada, Sadiq could join the Azulones soon.
Real Sociedad want to sign Mayoral from Getafe, and they want to add Sadiq to the deal. The structure of the agreement has not been decided yet, but it appears Getafe also want Sadiq. So, both parties appear to have almost reached a compromise.
The Super Eagles striker has already resumed for pre-season, but he would switch once a deal is reached.
