Report: Chelsea devise new plan to sign Osimhen from Napoli

There were reports that Osimhen was close to joining PSG last week, but Chelsea could hijack the transfer

English Premier League giants Chelsea have opened talks with Napoli to try to sign Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen on loan, Soccernet.ng reports.

Osimhen’s future has been one of the biggest issues this summer. The Super Eagles star has attracted interest from top clubs around Europe following his brilliant performances for Napoli.

Last summer, some clubs showed interest in acquiring his services, but Napoli held on and refused to sell him. But this summer, the 25-year-old Nigerian striker looks like he is surely on his way out from Naples.

Osimhen has been heavily linked to Chelsea, Arsenal, and PSG this summer, and it seems that one of them will eventually sign him.

Two weeks ago, there were strong reports that he was keen on a move to Ligue 1 champions PSG, but the talks have grown cold since then as the French giants are yet to agree on a fee with Napoli.

On monday, Soccernet.ng then reported the Premier League sides Arsenal and Chelsea were looking to capitalize on PSG’s sluggishness. In a new development today, transfer market expert David Ornstein reported that Chelsea were exploring the possibility of signing Osimhen on a season-long loan this summer.

The deal is to sign Osimhen on loan, with a mandatory buy clause in the contract. Both parties could even work on adding Romelu Lukaku to the deal as Napoli are seriously interested in the Belgian striker.

Nothing is sealed yet as at the time of this report, but there will be an update in the coming days.
