Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika has revealed he is open to leaving Club Brugge this summer should the right offer land on his table, Soccernet.ng reports.
The Nigeria international joined Club Brugge two years ago for ten million euros and has enjoyed a rise in status after helping the club win the Belgian Pro League during the 2023/24 season.
There are reports that an unnamed Saudi Arabian club is looking to tempt Onyedika away from Belgium with the former FC Midtjylland ace expected to command a transfer fee in the region of €20 million bid this summer.
However, Onyedika insists he is not willing to leave Europe for the Middle East just yet as it does not appear fitting for his career just yet.
“I’m not sure the Middle East is the best place for my development at the moment,” he told SportsBoom, as per Voetbalnieuws.
Onyedika is also the subject of interest from a couple of unidentified Premier League clubs as Club Brugge brace up to losing the midfielder.
And the 23-year-old admits he will not refuse any move to the English top flight as it is the dream of any player.
“These are places that you can’t say no to as a footballer. If they call and everything is right, of course,” Onyedika noted.
In two years at Brugge, Onyedika has featured in 91 games, scoring four goals and providing two assists. The Nigerian midfielder was a key player during the playoffs last season as Club Brugge overturned a deficit to win their 19th Pro League title.
The youngster is not short of admirers and while this thrills him, he is level-headed enough to let his representatives handle transfer talks while he focuses on his football.
“It’s really flattering when you see these names, this calibre of clubs interested in your services,” Onyedika added.
“But I’m just focused on playing my game, and not necessarily who talks to who. A lot of this is not up to me, you know. My agent will have to look at everything, and ultimately decide what’s best for all parties.”
While there are growing talks that he may depart Belgium this summer, Onyedika is open to staying at Club Brugge for at least one more year.
“I’m under contract until 2027,” he said.
“I have a contract here and I intend to respect it. The Club Brugge project is great, one that makes every footballer happy. We have a solid culture, a tradition in which every talented player gets the chance to grow and express themselves when you put on the shirt.”
Onyedika was a member of the Super Eagles squad to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year, where Nigeria won a silver medal.
