Nigeria’s Jennifer Echegini confirmed for PSG’s tour of Australia for PIF Cup

PSG Women have confirmed that Jennifer Echegini will be part of the club’s trip to Australia in August, Soccernet.ng reports.

Echegini is currently in Bordeaux, France, with Nigeria’s Super Falcons as they get set to participate at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

The young midfielder joined PSG this summer following a brief but eventful stay in Italy with Juventus Ladies.

Echegini signed her first professional contract in January with Juventus after completing her studies in the United States.

The Super Falcons midfielder went on to excel for the Italians, scoring ten goals, providing one assist, and bagging the league’s Young Player of the Year award before sealing a move to PSG.

The Nigeria international has not had the time to train with the former French champions as she has been in Spain camping with the Super Falcons ahead of the Olympics. Nigeria will trade tackles with Brazil in Bordeaux on Thursday before subsequent meetings with Spain and Japan.

However, immediately after the Olympics, Echegini will remain in France and join up with PSG’s preseason preparations.

In a statement on Wednesday, PSG confirmed that Echegini will miss some of their friendly matches in August.

The Parisians confirmed, however, that Echegini is expected to return from the Olympics in time to join the club for their tour in Australia.

In Australia, PSG will play two matches in the Perth International Football Cup, which will take place from 25th August to 2nd September.

Echegini will look to make her PSG debut and win her first club honour at the tournament.
PSG finished second in the French Première Ligue last season and have not added to the league title they won in 2021.
