Napoli are reportedly exploring the possibility of a player swap involving Victor Osimhen and Romelu Lukaku, Soccernet.ng reports.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Serie A club is willing to open discussions with Chelsea about a potential exchange deal this summer.
Osimhen has already agreed to join Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), but the French giants are not prepared to meet his release clause which has caused talks with Napoli to stall.
With no breakthrough yet in their negotiations with PSG, Napoli have turned their attention to Chelsea with a possible proposal for a Lukaku – Osimhen swap.
A direct swap deal between Osimhen and Lukaku seems unlikely due to the difference in their market values.
Despite this, there are no anticipated issues regarding Lukaku’s personal terms, as the Belgian striker is keen on returning to Serie A and joining Antonio Conte at Napoli. Lukaku spent last season on loan at Roma, where he found a resurgence in his form.
Chelsea are looking to move Lukaku this summer, as they have a surplus of forwards in their squad.
Meanwhile, Osimhen was not involved yet again as Napoli played their third preseason friendly match on Sunday.
Manager Antonio Conte watched as his charges made light work of Albania champions, Egnatia Rrogozhinë, powering to a 4-0 win at the Stadio Teofilo Patini in Castel di Sangro.
Napoli had earlier defeated Anaune and Mantova by a combined 7-0 scoreline all in July. Osimhen did not feature in any of those games.
