Belgian Pro League side KAA Gent is set to benefit from a percentage of the sale of Super Eagles invitee Gift Orban from Olympique Lyonnais, Soccernet.ng reports.
Orban transferred to KAA Gent from Stabaek Fotbal during the 2023 Winter Transfer Window and quickly garnered media attention with his impressive goal-scoring ability, netting 32 goals in 52 matches for the Belgian team.
His remarkable performance caught the eye of Lyon, the seven-time Ligue 1 champions, who signed him and awarded him the prestigious number 9 jersey.
However, the forward’s start in France has been challenging, as he has managed only three goals in 16 appearances for Lyon.
With the permanent signing of Guinea-Bissau forward Mame Balde from Troyes and the arrival of Georges Mikautadze, Orban faces stiff competition and a potential loan move.
Reports in the French media suggest that Brest is ready to give Orban an opportunity to prove himself after a tough first season in Ligue 1.
According to reports from Voetbalkrant, The sale of Orban would yield a 20% sell-on clause for KAA Gent, a term included in his transfer deal from Gent to Lyon.
While there has been no official statement from either Lyon or Orban’s camp, it is suggested that a loan move could be beneficial for the Super Eagles invitee. Such a move would provide him with more playing time and an opportunity to regain his form.
