Former Flying Eagles star dazzles with brace for Wayne Rooney’s Plymouth Argyle

Former Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney guided Plymouth Argyle FC to their first preseason victory against Cheltenham

Former Flying Eagles forward, Tijani Muhammed, scored twice in Plymouth Argyle FC’s 5-2 thrashing of Cheltenham, as reported by Soccernet.ng.

The Slavia Prague-owned forward netted the third goal of the match in the first half and opened the scoring in the second half, showcasing his striking prowess.

Other players contributing to the scoreline included Dutch forward Ibrahim Cissoko, England’s Morgan Whittaker, and Scotland’s Ryan Hardie, all finding the back of the net for the Plymouth-based club.

New Beginnings Under Rooney

The EFL Championship side, now under the management of former Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney, signed Tijani on a season-long loan deal with an option to buy.

In an earlier interview with OJB Sports, Tijani expressed his surprise at receiving a call from Rooney, who was keen on bringing him from the Czech First League to Plymouth.

“Actually, he [Wayne Rooney] did. He is a football legend not only in England but in the whole world. He plays like a striker also [like me]. [So] I think it is a good move for me, that’s why I took the deal. He really influenced the move, because when he called I was like ‘wow! Look who is calling, it’s Wayne Rooney.’ I was shocked. I had to ask my agent, ‘are you sure it’s him?’ He said, ‘yes, it’s him, of course, just take the call,’ and then we spoke, and it was very good,” Tijani said.

Rooney’s Excitement

Argyle Head Coach Wayne Rooney expressed his excitement about Tijani’s arrival, revealing that the Nigerian forward will bolster his squad.

“Muhammed joining further strengthens our forward line and he will bring different attributes to the squad,” the former Manchester United striker said.

A Promising Start

Tijani is quickly adjusting to life in England and has made a strong impression with his first brace for the club. His performance in the 5-2 victory over Cheltenham demonstrates his potential to become a key player for Plymouth Argyle this season.
