Super Eagles football legend Sunday Oliseh has praised England’s head coach Gareth Southgate as they secured their Euro 2024 final berth, Soccernet.ng reports.
The Three Lions of England surprised the Netherlands with goals from Harry Kane and Ollie Watkins, sending the British troops to the tournament’s final.
Reacting to a post by an X (formerly Twitter) user, the former Borussia Dortmund midfielder revealed his long-term familiarity with Southgate and his clear football ideas.
“[I have] personally known Gareth Southgate for over 13 years, [and he is] a very decent human being with clear football ideas. I agree with your points below which confirms my belief; ‘Think for yourself & don’t just follow the crowd, it is often deceptive’ Bravo Ken but Spain is a different bone sha,” he wrote on his Twitter page.
Just seven minutes into the game, Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Xavi Simons opened the scoring with a sublime strike that flew past Jordan Pickford.
In the same first half, a contentious penalty was awarded to Harry Kane, who leveled the scoreline after being brought down in the box. A few minutes were spent reviewing the penalty.
With the game looking to head to extra time, Chelsea’s Cole Palmer sent a pass to Watkins, who showed brilliant composure to bury the ball into the bottom left corner of Bart Verbruggen’s goal.
England will face Spain—who defeated France—in the final, hoping to bring the trophy home.
