Watch: Ahmed Musa gets bestowed chieftaincy title in Yobe State

Super Eagles forward Ahmed Musa has been honored with a chieftaincy title by the Emir of Nguru in Yobe State, Soccernet.ng reports.

Musa has been a regular for Nigeria since his debut in 2010. He was in the squad when the Super Eagles won the Africa Cup of Nations in 2013.

The 31-year-old forward has registered 108 appearances for Nigeria, the highest ever. Musa is also the Super Eagles’ highest goalscorer in the FIFA World Cup.

Although, still active, Musa is without a club, and coach Finidi George did not invite him for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin.

Nonetheless, despite the disappointment of missing out on the qualifiers, Musa has a cause to smile.

On Sunday, the former CSKA Moscow man shared a post of himself receiving the “Shetiman Kwallon Kaf na Nguru” title from the Emir of Nguru in Yobe State.

Musa is a very popular figure in the northern part of Nigeria because of his football fame and his philanthropic work, and he was welcomed to the town amidst fanfare from the residents of Nguru.
