Super Eagles dribble-wizard set to get big Sevilla move

The Nigerian forward had an impressive campaign with Antwerp last season, and he has earned a big move

Former Europa League champions Sevilla are set to complete a free transfer for Super Eagles winger Chidera Ejuke, Soccernet.ng reports.

Ejuke has constantly been on the move in the last two seasons. He was the star man for CSKA Moscow, featuring prominently for them for two seasons ago. But he moved to German Bundesliga club Hertha Berlin on a season-long loan deal at the start to the Russo-Ukrainian war. Unfortunately, he failed to make a mark at the club, as they suffered relegation after a poor campaign.

Then, last season, the 26-year-old secured another season-long loan move to Antwerp. He impressed at the club, registering four goals and four assists in 29 games. But Ejuke left at the end of the season. Meanwhile, Ejuke’s deal at his parent club CSKA Moscow just expired this summer, meaning that he is a free agent.

However, his status is about to change. This is as transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the Super Eagles star is on the brink of completing his transfer to Sevilla.

Both parties already have a verbal agreement in place, but the medical and contract signing will happen next week. And it is expected to be a three-year deal according to Alvaro Borrego.

This will be the biggest move in Ejuke’s career, as Sevilla is one of the biggest clubs in Spain. He will be looking to play a vital role at the club, as they rebuild, following a disappointing campaign last season that saw the finish 14th in Laliga.

Ejuke will work with an experienced manager like Quique Sanchez Flores, who has coached talented players at clubs like Watford, Atletico Madrid, and Valencia.

Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo worked under Sanchez Flores at Watford, and he registered 25 goals and four assists in 51 games.
