Sevilla: Chidera Ejuke and Kelechi Iheanacho to return to action at Girona

Super Eagles stars Chidera Ejuke and Kelechi Iheanacho are set to return to action for Sevilla when they play Girona at the Estadio Municipal de Montilivi on Saturday, Soccernet.ng reports.

Sevilla had a bad close to 2024, as they had to deal with injuries to some important members of the squad. Nigeria stars Iheanacho and Ejuke were among the players on the club’s injury list.

Ejuke has been out of action since mid-October, when he sustained a hamstring injury in Sevilla’s 5-1 loss to Barcelona.

Meanwhile, Iheanacho has been dealing with a slight knock for the past three weeks. Both players returned to light training last week but were not fit enough to play in Sevilla’s last game against Valencia.

However, both players are set to return this weekend when Sevilla travels to Girona for their La Liga clash. According to Estadio Deportivo, both players were heavily involved in the club’s training session on Friday and look fit enough to return to action.

However, it is unlikely that both will start against Girona, as coach Garcia Pimienta may want to introduce them slowly so they can regain full match fitness. The last time Sevilla played Girona, the result was 2-0 in favour of the latter. Ejuke scored in that game, but it was ruled out for offside. This time, he will be looking to help his side avoid defeat.
