Napoli striker Victor Osimhen and Fulham midfielder Alex Iwobi are among the top Super Eagles stars who were honoured at the 10th edition of the Nigeria Pitch Awards on Saturday night, Soccernet.ng reports.
Hosted at the Ibom Meridien Hotel and Resorts in Uyo hours after Nigeria were held to a 1-1 draw by South Africa, the award night was a show-stopper of an event marking one decade of an interesting project that is endorsed by the Nigeria Football Federation.
Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen was the biggest winner of the night as he claimed two awards – Striker of the Year and King of the Pitch.
Bay FC striker Asisat Oshoala was named the winner of the Queen of the Pitch award, beating the duo of Atletico de Madrid Femenino’s Rasheedat Ajibade and Paris FC goalie Chiamaka Nnadozie to the top gong.
Nottingham Forest fullback Ola Aina clinched the Defender of the Year ahead of Fulham FC’s Calvin Bassey and Fenerbahce SK’s Bright Osayi-Samuel.
In the Goalkeeper of the Year category, Ojo Olorunleke of Enyimba FC took home the coveted prize after edging past Kayode Bankole of Remo Stars and Amas Obasogie Bendel Insurance.
Fulham FC midfielder Alex Iwobi was on hand to receive his award after he won the prize for the Midfielder of the Year. The former Arsenal and Everton star claimed the honor ahead of Royal Antwerp’s Alhassan Yusuf and Leicester City ace Wilfred Ndidi.
Super Eagles head coach Finidi George was the winner of the Coach of the Year award.
