“Back to business”- Stanley Nwabali returns to Chippa United after tragic loss

Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has returned to Chippa United to resume action, 14 days after the death of his mother, Soccernet.ng reports.

The past two months have been difficult for Nwabali, as he has gone from having his two patents to becoming an orphan.

The 28-year-old goalkeeper lost his father in mid-November, while he was on duty for Nigeria at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. Just as he was done mourning, his mother died at the start of the year. Nwabali announced this via a post on his social media page.

Nwabali had to leave the club and return to Nigeria to be with his family. Luckily for him, he’s had an advantage, as the South African league was on a half-season break.

It now appears that the Super Eagles star is ready to return to action. This is as Nwabali shared a video of himself on a plane returning to South Africa. He then shared a old picture of himself in action at Chippa United.

Nwabali will be looking to return to training in the coming days, in preparation for the resumption of the South African Premier League.

Chippa United’s next game is against Marumo Gallants on January 18 at the Sisa Dukashe Stadium.
