Former Ajax star Finidi George has responded to recent viral comments made by Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen, who had gone live on Instagram to counter allegations that he faked an injury to avoid participating in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic, Soccernet.ng reports.
Osimhen’s comments stirred significant attention on social media, prompting veteran Nigerian journalist Colins Udoh to investigate the situation further.
Udoh reached out to top executives of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), who refuted claims that Finidi had accused Osimhen of feigning injury.
The executives corroborated Osimhen’s account that he had communicated with Finidi about his injury but clarified that Finidi never accused him of faking it.

In discussions with the Nigerian football authorities, Finidi reportedly emphasized that he would not compel any player to represent the Super Eagles. He maintained that players should willingly commit to the team.
ESPN journalist Udoh also disclosed his conversation with Finidi, who stated that he had contacted Osimhen following the public uproar. Finidi affirmed that he never made such accusations and would have addressed any concerns privately.
The Nigerian football community remains divided over the controversy, but with the confirmation of the falsehood of the accusations, fans are now awaiting Osimhen’s apology to the Nigerian football legend for the public outburst.

Just came across this online, please want to get more info on how to get started. Thanks
who is the Pressman that released such story, crediting Finidi George as saying he can't beg Osihmen to play for Nigeria? Since Osihmen brought the coach up to speed about his injury, he has the right to get angry over a wrong allegation. Our press should be careful of their reporting. Iwobi as been si criticized and vilified during this qualifier, just because of the press reporting and naming players when the whole team should have taken the blame for a loss.
Good day Julia, pls how can I start to earn, am highly interested.
