Will Pochettino’s exit affect Victor Osimhen’s potential move to Chelsea?

Victor Osimhen has piqued the interest of Chelsea, PSG, Arsenal, Manchester United, and a host of other top clubs vying for his signature

The unexpected departure of Mauricio Pochettino as manager of Chelsea Football Club has sparked questions about its potential impact on transfers to the club, Soccernet.ng reports.

Pochettino left Chelsea by mutual consent on Tuesday after just one season, during which he guided the team to a challenging sixth-place finish.

Prior to his departure, Chelsea had been heavily linked with a move for Victor Osimhen, despite the striker signing a new contract with Napoli.

However, it is believed that Pochettino’s exit will not affect Osimhen’s potential move to Chelsea, as the striker reportedly prefers a move to Stamford Bridge over a return to French Ligue 1, where he is also wanted by Paris Saint-Germain.

Osimhen Greenlights Chelsea Move

Chelsea’s determination to secure Osimhen remains unwavering despite the recent exit of their Argentine manager, and they are prepared to make a substantial investment to strengthen their attack, with Osimhen as their prime target.

With a release clause of €130m (£111m), Osimhen is set to leave Napoli this summer and is eager to join the Premier League, specifically with Chelsea.

According to TEAMtalk, Osimhen has informally indicated his willingness to move to Chelsea. While the finer points of his potential seven-year contract are still under discussion, Chelsea is prepared to offer him a salary exceeding his current earnings at Napoli.

Although a formal agreement has yet to be finalized, ongoing negotiations indicate Osimhen’s clear intention to become a key player for Chelsea, with personal terms expected to be settled in the coming days.

Osimhen Set for Premier League Move

Napoli’s star striker is on the brink of a sensational transfer to the Premier League this summer, according to Italian football expert Gaetano Fedele.

The Nigerian forward, who has been a standout performer for Napoli at the Stadio Diego Maradona, has long expressed his desire to test his skills in the English top-flight.

“I will definitely play in the Premier League. But for now, I have other plans in my career that I’m looking forward to. When the time comes, everyone will know,” Osimhen previously stated, hinting at an imminent departure from Napoli.

Now, Fedele has shed more light on Osimhen’s future, revealing that the prolific striker has already agreed to terms with another club as per a clause in his contract renewal with Napoli.

In an interview with Tele A via Area Napoli, Fedele confirmed Osimhen’s impending departure: “There is a clause in the renewal contract signed by Victor Osimhen. The Nigerian has already agreed with another club and will leave in the summer.”

The 2024 summer transfer window is anticipated to be a pivotal time for both Italian and English sides, with fans eagerly awaiting to see if Osimhen will join Chelsea or remain at Napoli.
